SC likely to hear case at 2.30 am

After Nirbhaya convict Pawan Gupta's lawyer filed a fresh plea in SC challenging rejection of mercy plea by President, the top court is likely to hear the matter at 2.30 am on Friday.

The move comes hours ahead of the hanging of the four Nirbhaya convicts which is scheduled at 5.30 am on Friday.

దిల్లీ:ఉరి శిక్ష నుంచి తప్పించుకోవడానికి నిర్భయ దోషులు చేసిన ప్రయత్నాలేవీ ఫలించలేదు. చివరికి సర్వోన్నత న్యాయస్థానంలోనూ వారికి చుక్కెదురైంది. ఉరిశిక్షను యథాతథంగా అమలు చేయాలన్న దిల్లీహైకోర్టు తీర్పును సవాల్‌ చేస్తూ సుప్రీంలో పిటిషన్‌ దాఖలు చేయగా.. సర్వోన్నత న్యాయస్థానం దానిని కొట్టివేసింది.జస్టిస్‌ ఆర్‌. భానుమతి, జస్టిస్‌ అశోక్‌ భూషణ్‌, జస్టిస్‌ బోపన్నల ధర్మాసనం ఈ మేరకు తీర్పు వెలువరించింది. దీంతో ఉదయం 5.30 గంటలకు నిర్భయ దోషులను ఉరి తీయనున్నారు. నిర్భయ దోషులను కలిసేందుకు కుటుంబ సభ్యులకు 5-10 నిమిషాలు  అనుమతివ్వాలని వారి తరఫు న్యాయవాది ఎ.పి.సింగ్‌ కోరారు. దీనిపై సొలిసిటర్‌ జనరల్‌ తుషార్‌ మెహతా స్పందిస్తూ దీనికి జైలు నియమాలు అనుమతించవని స్పష్టం చేశారు. మరోవైపు సుప్రీం తీర్పుపట్ల నిర్భయ తల్లి ఆశాదేవి హర్షం వ్యక్తం చేశారు.
