Personal perspective. It's not a movie that glorifies war, it's the opposite. it shows the futility of war, and how it's not always about guns and bombs that win wars. 

Appatlo communication technology was in it's infant stages, notice how he loses his gun when he's in the city which the Germans burn down yet evades them and gets to escape. Again it's not a pure action oriented war movie, it's more of how ordinary humans persist and survive in the midst of chaos.

Yes exactly. And it's a feast to watch those continuous shots spanning 30mins atleast (though it's editing trick)
