New free app uses AI technology to detect COVID-19

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have developed a free experimental, voice-activated online tool that uses artificial intelligence to detect whether a person may or may not have COVID-19. The COVID Voice Detector uses “voice forensic technologies” from voca.ai, telling.ai, and hat-ai.com, as well as Incremental Healthcare LLC, to detect signatures of coronavirus infections in users’ voices. While not as reliable as a medical diagnostic test, the creators aim to help people determine the likelihood of infection.
