Mumbai girl Ayesha Takia faced the camera when she was four (the original 'I am a Complan girl') and signed her first film as a heroine when she was 15. After a brief modelling stint, she featured in a series of music videos before making her Bollywood debut with the 2004 fantasy-thriller ‘Taarzan: The Wonder Car’. Imtiaz Ali’s debut directorial ‘Socha Na Tha’ was supposed to be the maiden film for Ayesha, but the delay in release pushed Taarzan ahead.

After playing the leading lady in a queue of big-ticket Hindi films, Ayesha Takia stunned the film fraternity and millions of fans by getting married to restaurateur Farhan Azmi at the young age of 23. After being in a relationship for four years, she eventually got hitched in 2009 and welcomed her baby boy in 2013. Popular known as ‘Super’ heroine in the Telugu states, Ayesha is celebrating her 34th birthday on April 10. Check out her latest stills.

02/6Started off her career as a child actor at the age of 4

Not many know that Ayesha Takia kicked-off her modelling career at the age of four by appearing in a popular health-drink commercial alongside Shahid Kapoor. After a few years, she featured in a couple of music videos which included Falguni Pathak's ‘Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye’ and Shake It Daddy Remix of the classic song ‘Nahin Nahin Abhi Nahin’. Both the video singles brought fame and stardom to the young actress and this eventually made filmmakers’ take notice of her.

03/6Leading lady debut at 15 and romancing Nagarjuna in Super

After a brief stint in modelling, Ayesha Takia signed her maiden Bollywood film ‘Socha Na Tha’ at the age of 15 opposite Abhay Deol. However, the romantic-drama spent three years in the making and due to the delay, her second film ‘Taarzan: The Wonder Car’ was released as her first. Besides bagging the Filmfare Best Debut Award, Ayesha created quite an impression with her arresting screen-presence and cute looks. After a couple of Hindi films, the ravishing beauty moved down south and shared the screen opposite Nagarjuna in the 2005 heist-thriller ‘Super’. The Puri Jagannadh directorial showcased Ayesha as Doctor Siri Valli and she managed to garner good craze among the masses.

04/6Journey in Bollywood! Dor, Cash, No Smoking, Sunday and Wanted

Despite acquiring massive craze in the Telugu states, Ayesha Takia decided to stay in Bollywood. After a few run-of-the-mill roles, her terrific performance in Nagesh Kukunoor’s ‘Dor’ has grabbed the eyeballs of many. She played the complex role of a young Rajasthani widow living in a traditional joint family. Released to immense critical acclaim, the 2006 drama fetched Ayesha several awards. A few years later, she romanced Salman Khan in the blockbuster action film ‘Wanted’ directed by Prabhu Deva.

After acquiring the biggest commercial hit of her career with ‘Wanted’, Ayesha Takia stunned the Hindi film fraternity and millions of fans by getting married to restaurateur Farhan Azmi at the young age of 23.After being in a relationship for four years, she eventually got hitched in 2009 and welcomed her baby boy in 2013. On her 'conscious decision' to quit acting, Ayesha once said “I have some of the best films to my name. I enjoy acting... I make the choices. I have never had a PR or a manager and have never been very media-savvy. I like to live my life in a particular way and do things that make me happy.”

06/6Vocal supporter of wildlife preservation and protection

Ayesha is a vocal supporter of wildlife preservation and protection. She even posed for an ad for PETA and endorsed vegan as the best way of life. In April 2014, the talented actress denounced her father-in-law, Samajwadi Party legislator Abu Azmi, for saying that rape victims should also be punished. She terms her husband as “humble, modest and very hard-working”.
