Centre considering request to extend lockdown, says govt spokesperson

The Centre is considering a request made by most states to extend the ongoing nationwide lock down by two more weeks beyond April 14, government said on Saturday after Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with chief ministers and told them focus should be now on health as well as prosperity of the nation. "During the video-conferencing with state CMs today, most states requested Prime Minister Modi to extend the lockdown for two more weeks. The Central Government is considering this request," a government spokesperson said.

No shortage of  hydroxychloroquine tablets, says health ministry

There is no shortage in country of hydroxychloroquine tablets used for COVID-19 treatment, the health ministry said in response to a question.

Cases would have spiked by 41% if no lock down had been declared, says health ministry

Had there been no lock down, there would have been 41 percent spike in COVID-19 cases resulting in 8.2 lakh cases by 15 April, said the health ministry

'PM asked not to compromise on lockdown': Yediyurappa says Centre to announce guidelines for next 15 days soon

Karnataka chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the chief ministers not to compromise on lockdown as it can be extended for the next fifteen days. 

In another couple of days, Centre will announce the guidelines for the next fifteen days, said Yediyurappa.

"For four hours the prime minister spoke with all chief ministers regarding the increasing number of COVID cases across the nation and the possibility of community transmission," he further said. 

The Karnataka chief minister also said that till now 2.48 lakhs PPE kits have been made so far. "'The prime minister said that every two days, two lakh masks will be procured. Each day 15,000 samples will be tested."

Guess not like that state by state PM & CM were talking one on one anukunta so when particular CM is speaking he might be highlighted in a larger frame...
