కరోనా వైరస్ అమెరికాను అతలాకుతలం చేస్తోంది. వేలాదిమంది ప్రాణాలను బలితీసుకుంటోంది. జాన్స్ హాప్‌కిన్స్ యూనివర్సిటీ గణాంకాల ప్రకారం అమెరికాలో మొత్తం 34,700 మంది ఈ మహమ్మారి బారినపడి ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోయారు. గత 24 గంటల్లో ఏకంగా 4,491 మంది మృతి చెందారంటే పరిస్థితి ఎంత దారుణంగా ఉందో ఊహించుకోవచ్చు. ఒక రోజుల్లో ఇంతమంది ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోవడం అమెరికాలో ఇదే తొలిసారి. ఇందులో గతంలో చేర్చని కోవిడ్-19కు సంబంధించిన సంభావ్య మరణాలు కూడా ఉన్నాయి. కాగా, మొత్తం మరణాల్లో 3,778 సంభావ్య మరణాలను చేర్చినట్టు న్యూయార్క్ నగరం ప్రకటించింది. గురువారం రాత్రి నాటికి ‘యూఎస్ సెంటర్స్ ఫర్ డిసీజ్ కంట్రోల్ అండ్ ప్రివెన్స్ 34,700 మరణాలను నమోదు చేసింది. ఇందులో 4,141 సంభావ్య మరణాలు ఉన్నాయి.

ప్రపంచంలోనే అత్యధిక కరోనా మరణాలు అమెరికాలోనే నమోదవుతున్నాయి. ఆ తర్వాతి స్థానంలో ఇటలీ ఉంది. అక్కడ ఇప్పటి వరకు 22,170 మంది ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోయారు. స్పెయిన్‌లో 19,130 మంది, ఫ్రాన్స్‌లో 17,920 మంది మరణించారు. అమెరికాలో మొత్తంగా 6,67,800 కరోనా కేసులు నమోదయ్యాయి. గత రెండు రోజులుగా ఇక్కడ రికార్డు స్థాయిలో మరణాలు సంభవిస్తున్నాయి. ఎపిక్ సెంటర్‌గా మారిన న్యూయార్క్‌లోనే 12 వేల మందికిపైగా మృతి చెందారు
