Pence's visit came after he sparked criticism for failing to wear a mask during a tour of the Mayo Clinic despite that facility requiring masks for everyone there because of coronavirus restrictions. President Donald Trump, who tapped Pence to lead the White House coronavirus task force, has refused to wear a mask, even as federal health officials urge Americans to take such precautions against the virus that causes Covid-19.
