Make sure you spend that day with your parents if possible.

Instead of throwing party to friends and colleagues, take you mom and dad out for lunch/dinner.

If you think your colleagues will be throwing a party for your birthday at your workplace, invite your parents to office atleast once on that day and thank them in front of your colleagues. Your colleagues will also talk good about you with your parents and that will make them feel proud and happy.

If you are still bachelor and staying with your parents, make sure you cook that day relieving your mom to take stress to cook specials for you. Let her relax. Remember she had to bear a lot of pain on the day she conceived you. Show some gratitude and love. You are alive today because of your parents. On your birthday its your responsibility to thank them for this and show your support to them.

For those who are new parents, inculcate this habit to your child from their childhood. What we can return to our parents is our love, affection and priority. 

Your birthday is not your day to celebrate alone with your fiends or colleagues. Your parents should be a part of it.
