Awareness about Cardiac issues

If someone is fit their chance of heart attack is minimal, but not Zero. 

Sometimes there is this condition called "HOCM" hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, which runs in families. That can kill people too.

Cardiac arrythmias- Electrical abnormalities of heart [ Abnormal heart rhythm like ventricular tachycardia, ventricular arrythmias can kill ppl too. 

Coronary artery diseases- Blood vessel blockage - Heart muscle dying - ppl die 25% of times  during their 1 st heart attack.

No matter how fit one could be , if they have FAMILIAL HYPERLIPIDEMIAS, Familial risk for coronary artery disease they could still suffer one.

Ofcourse fatty foods, obesity, smoking , hypertension and diabetes are risk factors. Stress could worsen HTN,DM , food habits and obesity.

If one never had heart disease, usually they do EKG. If a pt had cardiac symptoms like short of breath ,chest pain they will do ECHo and Stress ECHo. Stress echo - Giving dobutamine injection and looking at heart to see whether heart wall is beating symmetrically or there is any wall motion abnormality. if heart wall is not moving properly that means patient suffered a silent heart attack. Then they will do Coronary angiogram.

Losing weight usually resolves high blood pressure. I used to run in 140/90s . lost 10 lbs and my BP is in 110/70s range

Its a screening test. Yes it will give a decent idea.

For example my dad had short of breath in May 2019. EKG was suggestive of Coronary artery disease. He had echo, coronary angiogram and stenting in the same month.
