I know few friends who work with BOFA, Capital Group at DTLA with similar experience and they get around 150k, I know this for sure. Ofcourse they were on H1b but Greencards or no sponsorship aithe may be inkoka 10k ekuva vastundochu...but 200k is kind of above the line...!

Right. Plus only thing which makes me reconsider is that wife will be staying in Sacramento area so nenu ikkadundi weekends up and down cheyali plus separate living so double rent pay cheyali. Avanni kalipi oka 30k cut anukuntunna.

Not sure how the job market would be around Sac

Do not think about what others make, industry avg etc.

Companies look at existing employees as assets and new hires as acquisitions. They are willing to pay a bit and sometimes lot more for new hires depending on the role. This is what I recommend:

1. Try understanding how their org structure works (each company has a diff term - level, band, title etc.). Ask what band/level they are hiring you in.

2. If you know someone inside ask what that level means and what does it take to go to next level.

3. Level ekkuva unte salary ekkuva undalani rule ledu. The salary range for each level is huge. Maa company lo each level has a 90,000 salary band. Example Level X could be makinh anywhere between 100K-185K. Next level could be making 110K - 205K. This is used to keep employees under the same level and pay more money OR give next level but keep salary same. Level matter for career advancement within the org.

4. Ask for 180K or so and give them a reason why you are worth it. Do not give BS like cost of living, relocation etc.
HR will say that is too much, but pursuade them to back and check.

5. They may counter or worst case you take 150K

There is no ego to be lost with your HR partner. That is their job to negotiate and it your job to pursue your best interests.

Maa team lo everyone is new except for me. Everyone is getting hired at 1 level above me and I am almost sure they make 30K more than me. Maa manager very honestly told - there is no way you can get a huge bump within the team unless you move to a diff team or outside the company. Dobbeyyamani cheppatledu, she is being quite honest anthe.

Edit : Also check sites like https://h1bdata.info etc to get an understanding of what they are paying for H1Bs for similar titles. That gives you an approximate idea but what you see there is not 100% applicable to you as you do not know all the titles, roles and locations for the company.
