To me god is about respect and preservance. All elementa that help mankind and other animals are god.i think that is the basis for hinduism as well.

Ex: all 5 essential (fire,water, air, earth and sky) elements are god. Food is god maata Annapurana. All animals we can find gods: Ganesha, naramisha swamy etc, navagrahalu

Is it our way of saying thank you and Revere them as gods. Thats himduism to me..its not a religion.its a way of life.
