When he tried to import the vaccine, from US, the whites looked down at him and India and he took it as challenge and developed the hep-b vaccine indigenously in India, making it available for 50rs from 750 rs. (with out pharma bkground, he is an electronics engr) Modest and good hearted person. Being ceo pharma co, he stuck to principles and never gave to kickbacks get things done, even if it loss for him. While all you said is true in general, it has to start somewhere... we need more people like dr. abdul kalam to inspire, ingnite youth.. with out focus on Science, country can not compete with developed countries. We focus only on the IT part of STEM where, in developed countries, people focus on science and tech on a whole different level.. and there is lot of support and funding from Govts too. All we can do is to hope that we catch up. Quote
