Plus if that is some bullshit your judgement might go wrong under influence read it as a story. Fountain Head is somewhat ok. Her next book Atlas Shrugged is atrocious.. has very lengthy dialogues that span dozens of passages. absolutely horrible. even with the thriller vibe that the novel has going for 2/3rd of the book, with some well written scenes in the middle, it's still hard to read completely. I didn't finish it. her best novel is clearly the one she wrote before she wrote these crap. We, the Living, about a russian girl who fake loves a communist guy because he can help her save her 'heroic' boyfriend. in the end, all of them die. lol. but Its still much better than her earlier books. That's what her characters in the 3rd rate book do. she calls her ideology objectivism, which claims that truth is not subjective to the person experiencing it. and she goes on to make other dumb statements about truth. She would have failed philosophy 101 class. that an army of morally deviant, sociopathic assholes (like RGV) take her seriously says how little of worth she had to say, that your neighbourhood uncle who ran and sold a business could have. Ayn Rand is absolutely worthless as a philosopher, and as a storyteller, she has some talent - especially in shocking her readers, but she still needs a very good editor. none of her books are readable, after her success with We, the living. That is one good book she wrote, compared to the rest of the crap. Who do you admire and enjoyed reading? Quote

I read Rand when I was 15. and never ventured into romantic fiction after that. I read everything she wrote. my reading has been restricted to fantasy fiction since. I enjoy Cory Doctorow, even though his writing style is more suited to comic books. - Makers Iain M Banks, for his extraordinary imagination of the possibilities for Artificial Intelligence in his Culture series China Mieville for his prose, and the worlds he creates - Perdido Street Station Ursula Le Guin for pulling me out of the Ayn Rand cult, and for being one of the best fantasy fiction writers to have ever lived. - The Dispossessed. TrollBait Posted May 15, 2020 Report Posted May 15, 2020 Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged actually has the Baahubali feel to it. bunch of morons keep asking 'who is john galt', and another bunch of morons keep talking about a mysterious genius engineer, and finally one beggar makes the connection in the end. and then we are introduced to this utopia Atlantis, whose economy is poorly described. There's a perpetual energy machine that's powering everything in that paradise, and there's a banker too. Wonder what purpose he serves, and what they will exchange with each other for services. We dont get any explanation for that. all we get is pages and pages (100 pages probably) of conversation about how awesome they are. Rand is such a poor writer. Quote

Ursula Le Guin - now I remember where I first heard about her. Thanks, will check the others. Quote
