plant enthusiasts come here help me identify the plant

when I was a kid my frnd made me to eat a fruit that were cultivated in their farm. 

that was a small herb in a small part of their farm they were growing, I cannot recall the name of the plant but he said back that it had medicinal values and cures headache. 

can you guys help me identify the plant. 

it was a small herb not a big plant, it had some berries, when you eat that your tongue goes numb kinda thing. 

kind of acrid or astringent taste. not bitter nor sour.

its a small herb plant bro on the lines of strawberry plant I could say.
