Religious places, hotels, restaurants, malls to open from June 8

In 'Phase I', religious places and places of worship for public; hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services; and shopping malls; will be permitted to open from June 8, 2020. Govt will issue guidelines in this regard.

 

Shopping malls, hotels to reopen from 8 June outside containment zones

MHA guidelines issued today have suggested that that shopping malls and hotels can be reopened in non-containment zones from 8 June onwards. 

"In Phase I, religious places and places of worship for public; hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services; and shopping malls; will be permitted to open from June 8, 2020.  Health Ministry will issue SOPs for the above activities, in consultation with the Central Ministries/ Departments concerned and other stakeholders, for ensuring social distancing and to contain the spread of COVID-19," the ministry's press release read.

Schools, colleges, other educational institutions in phase 2

In Phase 2, schools, colleges, educational/ training/ coaching institutions etc., will be opened after consultations with States and UTs.

 

Decision to reopen schools, colleges likely in July

MHA said that schools, colleges, educational/ training/ coaching institutions etc., will be opened after consultations with States and UTs.  State Governments/ UT administrations are being advised to hold consultations at the institution level with parents and other stakeholders.  Based on the feedback, a decision on the re-opening of these institutions will be taken in the month of July, 2020

Dates for reopening international air travel, metro operations, halls, gyms to be decided later

In Phase 3, dates for their opening of international air travel of passengers; operation of metro rail; cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, etc. will be decided based on assessment of the situation.

Parties, large gatherings, international travel to remain banned 

The MHA said that lock down shall continue to be implemented strictly in the containment zones. These will be demarcated by the State/ UT Governments, after taking into consideration the guidelines issued by the Health Ministry. Within the containment zones, strict perimeter control shall be maintained and only essential activities allowed.

States, UTs may restrict certain activities outside containment zones: MHA

Based on assessment of situation, states, UTs may prohibit certain activities outside containment zones or impose restrictions, says MHA.

States, UTs will identify buffer zones outside containment zones, where new cases are more likely to occur. Within buffer zones, restrictions as considered necessary may be put in place by district authorities, says MHA.
