According to Portland Police, the city’s justice center was attacked and set on fire by demonstrators who are protesting the death of George Floyd. The police also reported significant vandalism and a shooting connected to demonstrations that led to the center being set on fire.

Officer Chauvin has an Asian wife and is the step father to her kids. Does it suggest that he is racist? I don’t know. You could argue that he is racist towards African Americans only - there isn’t any clear cut evidence right now either for or against that argument though. As a police officer in MN, he was trained to do what he did. He was acting within his competence and authority as far as the law is concerned.
