DC mayor renames street near the White House ‘Black Lives Matter Plaza’

DC Mayor Muriel E. Bowser officially renamed 16th Street in front of the White House “Black Lives Matter Plaza” on Friday. The slogan was also painted in massive yellow letters on the road. On Thursday, protests took place across the US, including New York, Portland, Buffalo, Seattle and Oakland. In Minneapolis, hundreds of mourners attended a memorial service for George Floyd, the man whose murder was the spark for over a week of demonstrations and protests across the world.
