But why he is not mass god like lord Rama ,here mass is the term used for following,bcoz most of the villages have ram temples or hanuman temples,u can say ram temple was bjp movement but even before independence ram temple used to be in every village

Whereas Hanuman temple also will there in every village,but not Krishna follower temple like balaram temple or garukmanthudu temple

So why ram gone into masses

For example u can go to any tribal village u can find ram temple or atleast statue 

It's because of the various Bhakti movements and popularity of the saints who propagated it. Kanakadasa, Purandaradasa, Tyagaraja, Ramadasu etc.,

Another example, at one point in time Skandha/Subramanya followers in Bengal were no less in numbers than the followers in South. Now, it's no longer in the popular memory.

And there were many sects in Saivaite tradition too. Mostly linked to that specific monastery or Guru. Now many schools are extinct or not very widely known.
