It is important to answer some life/financial related questions when buying a place.
When you are buying young right after marriage it allows to be flexible which is not equally possible after few years of marriage, kids etc.

Mee area and finances batti answers depend avtayi.

Budget
Area (State and City)
What is the main reason to buy - enjoy bigger space, save on rent, build equity etc. ?
Are you willing to be a landlord to make more money (e.g. house hack)?

Budget is under 250K

Area: Atlanta, GA

Reason - wanted to enjoy and save money on rents. dont really need bigger space and dont want to get into maintenance stuff like cleaning, yard work, insurances, taxes etc.. I really like living in community.. may be condo or townhouse could work for both of us.

Atlanta lo ee price ki neeku older homes vasthayi

Inko 50k pedithe Alpharetta lo decent condos (after 2010) vi vasthayi , Desi community is good in Alpharetta and Cumming areas

but check if this may be too far for your office

Cumming South lo kooda around 300k ki decent homes vasthayi

Condos in Atlanta area have very high HOA , almost monthly 150 $ ki takkuva chala takkuva , general ga 200$ untundi

deeni kante oka 20-30k petti single family home teesuko , will be a lot easier

Ofcourse condo type lo ve kavali anukunte your choice

You can never avoid taxes and insurance ;)

So that is not an option.

Naaku ATL area gurunchi telidu, kaani Condo with HOA kanna SFH without HOA makes better sense in many aspects. Budget 250 ani stick avvaku. If the house is 50K more, it is not like you are putting 50K more on down. Think about resale, appreciation as well.

If area permits but a 2 family (pref side by side) and rent one side. Those things save like crazy. Naaku ippudunna budhi gnanam oka 6 years back undi + situation permit cheste I would have done that. Ala konaka pote wrong emi kaadu, but I think that positions you very well after few years when you grow your family. Neeku either buying power perugutundi or solid equity situation lo untavu.

Just be cautious about the current situation.

If I were you, I will pile up cash when things look good, I will buy.

Seriously, if this continues for next 6 months, not sure how the f**k situation is going to be.

I was bit optimistic, after todays events, I feel things are going to be bit challenging.

Townhomes and condos are hard to sell. Buy a single family home, but at your age buy somewhere close to shopping, movies and malls so you can have  fun.. Most of the desi families live too far away from the city, they just look for good schools ante. At your age you need more fun..

trust me I had single family, when we had no kids, its just waste of investment... you will be paying extra taxes for the land you own. just get the condo or if you want little luxury  go for townhouse... appreciation is little higher than single family...but renting the house is alway better...
