CCP is a morally corrupt and an inefficient administration. what they did well after the death of Mao was decentralize the party administration... It helped when they opened up the economy in 80s.

local communist chamchas got a lot of capital to start industries and lay infrastructure and everyone was pitted against each other in a competition to lower the prices (sometimes quality)..

India thinks banning imports is going to make indian industries better, when providing these industries with easy capital (in a competitive environment) and infra would have done it. Indian leaders had bad ideas. yes.

but with increasing costs and increasing wages, Chinese workers are organizing and demanding better pay and working conditions now. and its still cheaper to produce in China than India because of the network effects.

Chinese growth is not without its bumps. But India hardly even tried. 

only for a brief period in UPA 1 was there some intent, and then right after Modi got elected. for a few months, it looked like he's gonna turn India around with canceling land usage act initiated under UPA 2.

but Modi backed off too soon into nothing, the minute he was called 'suit boot ki sarkar'..

UPA 1 atleast lasted a few yrs of decent growth.
