I got the safe travels USA plan for my mom when she came to visit us last october (before COVID-19).. everything was fine until she contracted coronavirus in May.. we have no idea how she could contract it as we took all the precautions. Due to her age, she had to go to Northside hospital for the ventilator... i called my agent who said Safe Travels covers coronavirus so I thought i would be safe..

But now GBG and trawick international have denied all the claims saying its a pre-existing condition since she got a kidney infection during her stay in ICU related to her diabetes.. And since they didnt pay anything now I am liable for over $50,000 in bills.. I don't know what to do I am afraid I am going to loose everything since I can't pay these bills..

If anyone knows how I can handle these bills please advise- I really dont know what to do. I cant even complain to insurance commissioner since theyre not a US based company... 

I just want to warn people not to fall into the trap i did... I hope nothing like this happens to anyone else

she can apply for a charity, normally the hospitals will provide the info for the same.

Charity organizations affiliated to churches. If you are financially weak they will support you.

even though they are not a US based company, they are doing business in US.. aren't they? they need to register here and action can be taken. ikkada kaaka pothey register ayina country loney complaint ivvamanu..

Most of these travel visitor insurances clearly state that they do NOT cover Pre-existing conditions.

The ones that cover have high deductible and premiums. Unfortunately most of the desis only look at the premium cost without properly looking into the strings attached.
