Moderna’s vaccine candidate, mRNA-1273, is one of the few to have begun phase three safety trials—with plans to enroll 30,000 people—results for which are expected as early as October.

The company said it will charge between $32 to $37 per dose of its vaccines, under what it termed cheaper “pandemic pricing.”

So far the company has received nearly $1 billion from the U.S. government under a plan to accelerate vaccine development.Moderna’s vaccine candidate contains genetic material called messenger RNA that causes cells to produce the Covid-19 spike protein and induces an immune response from the body.
