bommali Posted August 8, 2020 Report Posted August 8, 2020 Ladies and gents, badly need some information. My father in law came to visit us last September and is supposed to go back in March after the stipulated term of 6 months. But due to the COVID-19 situation an extension was filed and he is still in the US. It'll be an year in September since he arrived in the US. Since the flights are running between US and India, we can send him back before the turn of the year, but we don't want to, as it involves a huge risk of infection during his travel considering his old age. I have 2 questions. Can visitors stay for more than a year in the US? I saw some laws forbidding it.But want to know if it can be done on certain grounds. Any information you might provide in this regard would be of great help. Thanks. Quote
kathanayaka Posted August 8, 2020 Report Posted August 8, 2020 1 year daatinaka visitor visa la unte' inka ade last US visit aitadi. Quote
Spartan Posted August 8, 2020 Report Posted August 8, 2020 May be due to current pandemic they might allow another extra extension. but to be safer from ur side, you need to apply extension before the 1 year deadline.. usual ga aite 1 year daati unte, u need to provide proper evidence why u needed like Surgery, or something... but current pandemic situation is not in our hands..so I am assuming hopefully they might allow..
