Kamma-Kapu Fight Hits American Court

Telugus have crossed the boundaries of the nation. They have been spreading their talent and are now omnipresent.

Along with that they are exposing their narrow minded racist mentality by taking the caste feuds to the court of law even in the United States of America.

Followed by the #BlackLivesMatter slogan, a new case of casteism between Kamma and Kapu has seen light. A Kapu employee alleged and filed a case that he was terminated by a Kamma employer only on the grounds of caste.

This case was filed on March 25 in a superior court in California.

The case explains the age old antipathy between these two communities citing the 1980s incidents from Vijayawada.

"Fight between the two castes, Kamma and Kapu, resulted in the death of over 40 people and Rs 100 crore in damages, reports had then pointed out. Chakravarty is from Vijayawada, and his caste sentiments are deep-rooted", alleged Vikram Naidu of Kapu caste in his lawsuit. 

The lawsuit also mentions that Srinivas Chakravarty, the employer of Vikram at HCL in Silicon Valley, who belongs to the Kamma community was in Vijayawada when the riots were going on.

Vikram alleged that Chakravarty would often lose temper with him during one-on-one review meetings and did not take action when a colleague called him ‘black’ laughing at his complexion.

Thus the #BlackLivesMatter episode is also brought into this case, but in a different ethnic context.

Vikram said that he started preparing for the legal battle in 2019, soon after he lost the job, and the arbitration date is now set for 21st of April, 2021. We have to wait and see the final decree of American court.
