I don’t know. Many swear that it is due to their culture valuing education and academic achievement. May be IVY leagues have always been sought after by their community. There was a time when Harvard had to restrict the number of Jews admitted. That attitude changed and we can see how skewed it can get if we take out those restrictions. Asians are getting the same treatment now may be.
