May be Kohli is not a great captain but you cannot deny that his work ethics will rub off on his team. 

Rohit is a very good captain but a cool and easy guy like sehwag types and it works for him personally but I don't know how seriously these new and young guys take it under him. May be that coolness is what required to win pressure games? Also MI has very good management/support staff that deserves some credit for the success of MI in IPL. 

At this time nobody else in contention. There are 3 world cups in the next 3 years. If India doesn't win one of the next two t20 WC then definitely Rohit will be made captain before 2023 ODI WC.
