Forest fires are driven by rising temperatures (Global Warming and climate change). CA lo last week nundi avg temperatures are near 110 F and in death valley it recorded highest temp ever (> 130 F ). There have been forest fires in Amazon and  Australia at an unprecedented scale! Year over Year this will only increase.

Meat and dairy production are major contributors for greenhouse gases and increasing the temperatures all over the world. 

Most of the us here are grads with Masters and Bachelors degrees, we should know this!

Just divide it along CHP's org breakdowns and make it 8.

On a serious note, in one form or the other, whether in the near term or in 8 years, its bound to happen. Its a long time coming.

California has been mismanaged for far too long. It will be broken up - whether into 2, 3 or more smaller states.

There are heavily underrepresented counties that dont resemble anything like the rest of the states demographics

Just look at how they voted in 2012 compared to the rest of the state.

This could be helped if the aggrieved counties in Oregon get behind this initiative and add momentum to carving up a larger 

Jefferson, adding territory from their own state to the California counties.

Then, it could happen a lot sooner than you think.
