to view running containers... first do this...

docker -ps aq  --> this will list all the containers...

do grep and get all the containers and append to the    `docker rm  -f continer1 container2.....`

this will remove all running containers...and then u can kill /remove images...

to acheive all the above steps in single command...you can do this..

docker rm $(docker ps -aq)

 

PS: i think u already got this answer

Restart docker daemon. Its a known issue in older versions
