How does he know? Did you try it before? 
Think of it like a new hobby.. do everything like cooking, cleaning, etc.. try to cook some new dishes.. bake a cake.. try being a house wife for a week without worrying about work.

I made tomato curry yesterday after 3 months, it was very bad. I make decent Maggi though.
