Appalachia is almost entirely white and the poorest region in the country "the overall crime rate throughout Appalachia is about two thirds the national average, and the rate of violent crime is half the national average"

The biggest niggling thought on my head when I come across these things is this:

Given how untruthfully the media covers current events - things that are happening in full view of our eyes right now across the nation, in 2020 with live streams beaming images to us from the violent street "protests" right as they happen sometimes in 1080p resolution, through social media - just imagine the scale and magnitude of lies we were told about the past and how they really happened, in the absence of even proper tv networks ( however biased they were ) or in the absence of widely available video footage or even camera imagery or even audio recordings. 

They could just pretty much make up anything about anyone and it would stand as fact for the rest of time.
