There are a couple of good scenes in Swades though. purely because of the way the scene was set up. the one where he's given roti to eat at a house where people are almost starving (I know cringey, but I cried in this scene.. very filmy).. another where he looks over the train window to watch a kid selling tea on the platform. Its a beautiful scene.

but the movie is actually boring.

when I actually saw teh movie, it felt artificial.. like showing that people in India had no agency and were going along with their lives like they were trapped inside it without any way to change it.

and then I traveled around India, and I was right. this movie tried to portray an idea that is in the mind of the NRI, and not the actual India. 

India doesn't need any NRI saviours. muahhhhh ...

This movie was made for international audience. Not for Indians.

Oh I just realized both those scenes are covered in that one song

'yeh jo des hai tera' 

the entire movie in that one song. encapsulated. and its a cringey song.
