How long you can stay in India and work remotely on H1B without having tax implications

3 1/2 months aite cheyachu.... nenu chesanu .... I am not sure how much more longer you can do ... My guess is 179 days ..Brahmi-2_1.gif?1337103173

Upto 6 months usually but it the employer is cooperative then even after 6 months is ok. I know someone who is working since March, he is not to going to retun until next summer. Employer is still running payroll for his old Atlanta address

There is no limit to time you can be outside the US on an H-1b, assuming you return prior to the visa expiration date

there is no restriction from immigration perspective. for tax purposes, india treats you as resident if it is beyond 180 days so you’ll need to file taxes in India as well. maybe that 180day limit is relaxed because of covid so check irs lannti websites for indian taxes

Yaa 180 days is know thing. But other than that it’s not big deal. Chala mandi unnaru ikkada since March

Accordingly, visiting NRIs whose total income (which is defined as taxable income) in India is up to Rs 15 lakh during the financial year will continue to remain NRIs if the stay does not exceed 181 days, as was the case earlier.
