Anais_nin Posted September 25, 2020 Report Posted September 25, 2020 NewsFlash! USCIS Proposes Eliminating D/S on I-94s for F, J, and I Visa Categories 24 Sep 2020 Today, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) proposed eliminating the D/S (“duration of status”) designation routinely issued on I-94s for nonimmigrants in F, J, or I status. If the proposed regulation is enacted, I-94s for these categories would instead be issued with a set end-date, as is typical for nearly all other nonimmigrant visa categories. For those entering in F or J status, the I-94 could be issued for a maximum period of 4 years, or 2 years, if the person is enrolled in a 2-year program. The I-94 may also be granted with a grace period to prepare for departure or apply for extension or change of status. MurthyDotCom will post a more detailed summary of this proposed rule in the near future. Quote
