both together are good as you can convert the 5% chase freedom cashback to chase preferred points and then use them for travel , chase preferred points are rated as one of the highest value in travel cards

If you apply for both cards you can get enough to cover an India trip for you..

but preferred has a 95$ fee , so in the long run if you are not using much then this annual fee may not be worth

I personally prefer 0$ annual fee cards unless I know for sure that I get a good rewards every year paying annual fee ..

One example is the Amex Preferred which has 6% cashback for groceries
