Since Nag is basically Telugu hero and movie was made as straight Telugu movie SPB did the play back later was dubbed in Tamil after commercial success in telugu mano did the job there..

Music & Songs are really a asset for this movie mano possibly wouldn't have made justice as SPB garu did..

35000 maybe a bit exaggerated but 25000 varaku easy ga paduntadu

May be possibly due to various reasons rajaa would have gone with Mano... Don't know who dubbed for Nag in Tamil that also could have tilted it towards mano to keep voice similar..

ARR and Others also did good songs with SPB but no one can match SPB & Ilayaraaja combo..

Yes plus now you don't need singers anymore. Music directors will sing using autotune so no incentive to be a singer anymore.

I guess that was because of the throat surgery that SPB had to undergo.
And time constraint would have forced Ilayaraja to go with Mano.
