It is not for Flu. It is for the inflammation. Steroids reduce inflammation. Even HCQ worked initially for the same reason. The inflammation is caused by the Virus. If you reduce the inflammation, the saturation would start getting back to normal. But, with steroids, the trouble is, if taken in the initial stages it will reduce immunity further and make you more prone to the attack.
