IMO, Italian wine's are overrated and expensive. Try Spanish wines from Rioja or from north of Spain. They are good value for money and the best in taste. If you are not trying to impress someone, try the Spanish wines. Castilla Lyon, la mancha, Galicia(Whites) come next. During my time in Madrid, I was surprised that you get super good wines below 5euros. In US wines are expensive and in particular Italian wines are overrated and expensive.
