Agreed on the flexibility, I think it is not just the technique. It is the mindset. Run scoring is not at all in his mind. Block block block and that takes away a lot of movements in his hands and feet and when such balls come he doesn't have anywhere to go.  A different batsmen with a different mindset may be more flexible at the crease and may get out of being in awkward positions for such balls. 

Having said that this guy is absolutely amazing. After so many blows, anybody would have just played risky and rash shots, either get out or get a few runs and either case would be a win for the bowler. This level of determination of not getting out is just inspiring. 

 

Do agree about his concentration and determination being very tough him being bit more flexible would help him get better if you see him being pretty rigid thats making him getting out pretty much same fashion if you see his dismissals in the series...
