Hyderabad typically receives 1000mm rainfall in a year. హైదరాబాద్: నగరంలో ఏటా సగటున 800 మి.మీల వర్షపాతం నమోదవుతుందని.. ఈ ఏడాది కేవలం వారం రోజుల్లోనే 700 మి.మీల వర్షపాతం నమోదైందని తెలంగాణ నీటిపారుదల శాఖ ముఖ్య కార్యదర్శి రజత్ కుమార్ తెలిపారు. జంట నగరాల్లో ఇటీవల కురిసిన భారీ వర్షాలు, వరదల నేపథ్యంలో జలసౌధలో ఆ శాఖ కమిషనర్, అధికారులతో రజత్ కుమార్ సమీక్ష నిర్వహించారు. చెరువులకు గండ్లు పడకుండా అధికారులను అప్రమత్తం చేసే విషయంపై ప్రధానంగా చర్చించారు. నగరంలో కురిసిన భారీ వర్షాలకు 185 చెరువులు పూర్తి స్థాయిలో నిండాయన్నారు. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో సీఎం కేసీఆర్ ఆదేశాల మేరకు 15 తనిఖీ బృందాలను ఏర్పాటు చేసినట్లు వివరించారు. బృందాలు చెరువులను పరిశీలించిన అనంతరం మరమ్మతులకు నిధులు మంజూరు చేస్తామని చెప్పారు. చెరువుల పునరుద్ధరణకు రాష్ట్ర పురపాలక శాఖ మంత్రి కేటీఆర్ రూ.2 కోట్లు విడుదల చేయనున్నట్లు తెలిపారు. నగరంలో 53 చెరువులు దెబ్బతిన్నాయని.. త్వరలోనే మరమ్మతులు చేయిస్తామన్నారు. చెరువుల కబ్జాపై చర్యలు తీసుకుంటామని రజత్ కుమార్ స్పష్టం చేశారు. Not just corona , I heard it from a professor from Japan that they are trying to re design storm water drains in their country to combat heavy bursts of rain short period of time due to climate change. As the oceans become hotter , more and more tropical depressions will keep appearing , just look at US the past few years . Quote
