1 month is long time and in the process we still talk anyway. So she doesn't feel like I'm rejecting her. It would rather look like we both are too busy to catch up again.

You can always say “it’s not you, it’s me but we can still be friends “ and get out of the relation than just dragging it to a point of frustration. Clean exit removes all baggage of the earlier relation.
