Florida Man, 20, Accused Of Hacking Into State Voter System, Changing Gov. DeSantis’ Address

 

A 20-year-old man from Naples, Florida, has been arrested after he allegedly hacked into Florida’s voter registration system and changed Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R) address, a change the governor discovered when he went to vote on Monday.

Authorities have arrested Anthony Steven Guevara for making the unauthorized change, according to multiple media reports Wednesday.

DeSantis went to early vote at his assigned polling site on Monday, where he was told that his primary address had been changed.

DeSantis did not authorize the change, leading to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation that traced the change back to a laptop in Naples.

Investigators found search terms like “Florida my vote” and “Florida governor,” along with visits to DeSantis’ Wikipedia page and the Florida voter website, according to reports.

Guevara is charged with two felony counts of property crimes and one count of altering voter registration without knowledge or consent, according to WPTV-TV.

Guevara remained in the Collier County jail Wednesday morning on a $5,000 bond, WBBH-TV reported.
