Help!!Apartment landlord sent my debt to collection agency

Hi Friends,

I vacated my rental apartment on Oct3rd and put USPS address forward on Oct4th to new address.I didnot give my  old apartment landlord my new address, since I already put address forward.My old apartment leasing office prepared a bill for damages about 1000$ and just kept the letter with them.On October 20th, I went to check if they have any letters from me and then they gave me this letter.I was busy with some personal issues and thought of paying the the bill  next week but just yesterday I got a letter from Debt collection agency saying that I need to pay them 1000$.My question is will it impact my credit score since my landlord sent me to collections?Can you please share your thoughts?

If it went to debt collections, may be it will impact your credit history.

 

If it is their fault, they can remove it from credit history. I don't know the process though

antha fast ga collection pampavu.. talk to them.. did they gave you the full break up of the bill..if not ask them... pay them by check... most of the issues will be resolved by talking to them..,,

@heha are you sure bro.Because online lo i read that once your debt is sent to collectors it will immediately show in credit history and impact score

be default they do that, it happened to me once. You can work with the agency and clear the debt..no mark in your credit file

pay the agency directly. Tell them its not your fault and letter was not forwarded.

@krishna556 can I pay leasing office directly and inform collection agency that debt is already paid bro?
