#BoycottChineseProducts, a Twitter sentiment was nowhere to be seen on the e-commerce websites -- Amazon and Flipkart where Chinese smartphones, televisions, among other devices remained popular choices for consumers, many of which even got out of stock during the festive season sale in 2020.

While announcing the growth in sales during Big Billion Days (BBD), earlier this week, Flipkart said that Realme devices saw 2X growth this year over BBD in 2019. It did not share the number of devices sold.

Amazon, too, said that the top-sold categories were smartphones, large appliances and consumer electronics with leading brands such as OnePlus and Xiaomi making record sales without sharing the total number of devices sold.

Flipkart and Amazon did not respond to the queries for this story.

There were also numerous non-branded products sold on the two e-commerce websites showcasing China as their country of origin.

Ilanti emotional panalu like DeMo chesi M gudipinchdeu. All this leads to lower consumer spending if you can’t scale up the alternatives and more dent to the economy.40k crores is also overstated figure without specifics. i think this news will be limited to news papers..this should be a 3-5 year plan rather than turning on-off switch.

Anothe classic example, Micromax gadu pedda advterising  chesindu they are bring their made in india phone ani and it was revealed that they are rebranding Huawei phones with “In” branding for this Diwali release

More than banning I think GOI should first make our manufacturers more competitive with incentives and tax credits and access to capital

The body has also urged small scale industries along with local artisans, and craftsmen through its state-level chapters to prepare goods related to Diwali. These sellers would be encouraged to sell their goods in the markets through trade organizations spread across India.

And it looks like the traders are preparing themselves with sufficient stocks of goods. According to B. C. Bhartia, President, CAIT, mobile, electronics, electrical goods, toys, home furnishings, kitchen accessories, gift items, watches, readymade garments, footwear, cosmetics, beauty products, furniture, FMCG products, consumer durables, stationery, Diwali puja and decorative articles for the home, shop, and offices, etc. are likely to be sold in large quantities.

During his monthly Mann Ki Baat program yesterday, PM Narendra Modi had once again called for consumers to be ‘Vocal for Local’ during the festive season and the apex body has taken a cue from his advice.
