Californians vote to declare Uber and Lyft drivers as independent contractors, AP and NBC project

Alongside voting on presidential and congressional candidates, Californians were also deciding on Proposition 22, an exemption to a law which would classify gig economy workers such as drivers working for ride-share apps as independent contractors. Both Uber and Lyft have campaigned hard in favor of the change.
