British vallu nagaland kuda rule chesar, now it is completely english state, so depends on local language protected by people

Missionaries after the British went away was the primary reason for English language proficiency in Nort East, which was more of a Myanmar than India pre independence  days. And North East has more languages than rest of India, so primary speakers of one language are very few.

Other than English, Nagamese, a creole language based on the Assamese, is widely spoken.

Based on the 2011 census data, Nagaland effectively has 14 languages and 17 dialects with the largest language (Konyak) having only a 46% share.

I do , the british unlike Spanish never cared to impose their culture on locals all around the world .  They only taught English to select few who served as liaisons of the empire

The colonies served only one purpose ie to send as much as resources to the British empire .

While the muslim rulers of india had jaziya tax and preferential treatment to muslims .
