Not a real black hole, but bringing back lawfully comes with its own set of issues. 

Kone appudu black assalu lekunda konali - that increases your GST, registration costs and who knows what. Amme vaadu adi oppukodu, vaadiki malli konni paisal ekkuva ivvali. In that process you lose some options. 

Now when selling - cap gains tax kattali. Bank lo deposit ayyaaka, clearance certificate kaasta kashta padali. Anni vachaka, forex rate prakaram venakki techukovali. 

As someone above said, 5 years back USD INR conversion is very different from what it is now. You lose a lot of gains in forex alone. 

All in, India lo invest cheste aa money akkade unchukune laaga cheyyali. I did that mistake few years ago and I am not ready to do that ever again. 

It is not a bad idea to rotate some money in India purely on asset appreciation factor. But you need to buy/sell to realize the profits. Konesi - rents kosam aithe you are better off investing in bonds, ETFs, REITs etc. Kaani daaniki better financial discipline kavali which is very easy to talk but hard to stick to your rules.
