Dear XXXX,   Yesterday in a dastardly fashion, when the Senate chamber was all but empty, Sen. Mike Lee of Utah pounced and asked for a unanimous consent (UC) vote on H.R. 1044, the Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act. It passed with no one there to object. We have been fighting this bill in its various iterations for more than three years. Just when we thought it would not rear its ugly head again, this happens. In the best of all possible worlds, with just ten days left for Sen. Lee to get this before President Trump to sign, the clock could run out. We are already hearing that supporters of the bill in the House of Representatives are not pleased with several of the amendments that were added to their version of the bill.   But we cannot leave anything to chance. The moneyed interests are just too powerful for us to think they will allow this bill to simply expire. The best course of action will be for President Trump to declare that he will VETO the bill if it comes before him.  Make your voice heard! Light up the White House switchboard, and tell President Trump to VETO H.R. 1044.
