r2d2 Posted December 10, 2020 Report Posted December 10, 2020 after being told off for breaching social distancing rules.. Senior Labour MP Chris Bryant has denied telling House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle to 'f*** off' in an extraordinary row over social distancing rules yesterday. Mr Bryant, who is the MP for Rhondda in Wales and Chair of the Commons Select Committee on Standards, faced claims he made the remark after being rebuked by Sir Lindsay in the chamber. The spat between the two men - apparently over Mr Bryant heckling and standing too close to other MPs - erupted as Boris Johnson was taking PMQs yesterday. Sir Lindsay seemingly took exception to Mr Bryant's 'chuntering' during the Prime Minister's address. An MP who witnessed it told The Sun: 'He was standing in the doorway at the back of the Labour benches and chuntering. 'The Speaker told him to be quiet and then said he should not be positioned there as he was too close to others who were sitting in allocated seats. 'Bryant disputed this and the Speaker insisted he move, to which he threw his hand in the air and said, ''Oh f*** off''.' Quote
