IMA calls for nationwide strike to oppose allowing Ayurvedic doctors perform surgeries

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) called for a nationwide strike on Friday against the Central government’s decision to allow post-graduate Ayurvedic doctors to perform surgeries. However, emergency medical services are exempted from the strike. The Centre even came up with a new term ‘Mixopathy’ for ayurvedic surgeons.
The medical body further sought withdrawal of Ayush Surgery notification and even vowed to intensify the agitation. The strike is currently underway in more than 1,000 centres. Private hospitals across the country have raised concern over the strike and are taking steps to ensure the smooth functioning of services.

There are 2 opinions

1) Ayurvedic vallaki procedure cheyyadam radu and so patients will go to the usual doctors anyways: ee case lo doctors assalu worry avva valasina avasaram ledu as patients come to them anyways

2) Ayurvedic procedure is superior and so they may disrupt Doctor's business: Doctors business can take a hit and so they have agitate and revert the decision.

ee rendintlo okati nijam.

To me, it looks like opinion 2 is in play.

lol. typical free market view of the health care system.

yeah most docs are assholes, but their view on this matter is not as simple as 'my business may be affected'.

ayurveda is quackery. simple. the fault also lies with IMA for controlling the number of medical seats in the name of quality.

two casteist organizations - IMA, and the Indian govt, are hence at war over a half assed bill that legitimises quackery without much investment into research behind it.

It's a glorified placebo. Yes it has some interesting observations of the affect of certain foods on mood and  behavior but a lot of is pretty outdated as well.

It's perhaps a decent enough supplement to the traditional Western medicine but in no way can it ever be a replacement.

asala ayurvedic schools lo ippudu surguries nerpistunnara, how qualified and how vetted are those procedures?

Gatham lo hasta vaasi ani okati undedi, i don't think people these days have a knack of developing that ( either types of doctors ). Eppudu pani chesindi kada ani ippudu kooda cheseddam ani anukunte tappe

people who support this, how many are ready to get a surgery from a ayurvedic doctor?
