Ryzen_renoir Posted December 14, 2020 Report Posted December 14, 2020 One of media’s most self-romancing cliches: Talking the Truth to Power. It assumes poor old Power is naïve, innocent, doesn’t know the truth. Far more important: talking the truth about power. Corporate media can do neither, but are forever talking. Corporate media and Power, joined at the hip by common interests, sell us their own ‘truth.’ Seldom in the annals of human communication have so few lied so much to so many for so long in the interests of so few. Watch them target the farmers now. For 30 years now, a fundamental feature dogging journalism: the rapidly growing, almost irreversible, disconnect between mass media and mass reality. For corporate media, journalism is a revenue stream and an ideological arm. How can the very media whose owners directly profit from the farm laws, and/or from the advertising power of those whose names the farmers are chanting, ever tell you the truth about those laws or much else? - P Sainath Quote
